Innovative Living in Vancouver’s Revitalizing Oakridge Neighborhood
Location: Metro Vancouver, British Columbia
Client: Keltic Canada Development
Architect: GBL Architects
Services: Mechanical Build
Status: Completed 2021
COCO is a six-storey, low-mid rise concrete multi-family development located in the heart of Vancouver’s Oakridge neighborhood, an area undergoing significant revitalization. This 56,800-square-foot project, developed by Keltic Canada Development and designed by GBL Architects, features 57 residential units, including three two-level townhouses with private entrances. Residents benefit from two levels of underground parking and an array of thoughtful amenities, such as a 600-square-foot ground-floor amenity room with garden views of the inner courtyard and a children’s play area.
A standout feature of COCO is the innovative retractable glass panel system on the north-facing balconies. These railing-to-roof panels make COCO the first multi-family development in Vancouver to implement this technology, expanding living space by up to 30% while reducing noise levels by up to 50%.
Sustainability played a crucial role in the project, with 75% of construction and demolition waste diverted from landfills. COCO is LEED Gold certified, offering residents enhanced energy efficiency and indoor comfort through features like energy recovery ventilation systems, space heating, and LED lighting. Select penthouse units further elevate the living experience with private rooftop decks and panoramic views of the North Shore Mountains.
Completed in 2021, COCO is a prime example of innovation, sustainability, and modern urban living.
