We know that many young people may be uncertain about which trade to pursue. That’s perfectly normal. At Enersolv, we believe in giving you the time and freedom to try out different things – if you try one trade and it’s not right for you, you can try another – this is what sets us apart.
If you want to get your career in the construction industry started while continuing your education and gaining qualifications, our apprenticeship program is for you. Whether it’s plumbing, electrical, or HVAC , you’ll have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and discover what truly excites you.
The Apprentice Journey
At Enersolv, we fully support this journey and offer a structured program that combines on-the-job training and classroom learning. This enables you to develop both practical skills and theoretical knowledge, ensuring a well-rounded education.
1. Choose a Trade
The first step on your apprentice journey is to choose a trade that aligns with your interests and career goals. Consider the options available; plumbing, electrical, HVAC refrigeration, and research the requirements and opportunities in each field.
2. Find an Employer
Once you’ve selected a trade, the next step is to find an employer who will sponsor your apprenticeship. Enersolv is proud to offer apprenticeship opportunities in plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
3. Register as an Apprentice
After securing an employer, you need to register as an apprentice with the Industry Training Authority (ITA) in British Columbia. The ITA ensures that apprenticeships meet industry standards and facilitates the training process.
4. Begin On-the-Job Training
With your apprenticeship registration complete, you can start working under the guidance of experienced professionals who will mentor you and provide practical hands-on experience.
5. Attend Technical Training
In addition to on-the-job training, apprentices also attend technical training at a recognized trade school, such as Skilled Trades BC. These classroom sessions complement the practical experience by providing theoretical knowledge and a deeper understanding of the trade.
6. Accumulate Work-Based Training Hours
Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll need to accumulate a specific number of work-based training hours to progress to the next level. As you gain experience and develop your skills, you’ll gradually advance through the apprentice levels.
7. Write and Pass Certification Exams
At designated milestones during your apprenticeship, you’ll be required to write and pass certification exams. These exams assess your understanding of the trade and ensure that you meet the necessary competency standards.
8. Journeyman Certification
Once you have successfully completed all levels of your apprenticeship, accumulated the required work-based training hours, and passed the certification exams, you will be eligible to receive your journeyman certification. This certification recognizes your mastery of the trade and qualifies you to work independently in your chosen field.
