Apprentice HVAC-R Technician (1st/2nd Year)

Reporting to the Foreperson, you will play a key role in our growth strategy. As our Apprentice HVAC-R Technician, you will possess the ability to learn and apply company methods, practices, procedures and regulatory requirements regarding the installation of modern refrigeration and air conditioning systems.  You will be responsible for assisting your peers on commercial and residential projects, working as part of a team to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, safely and to a high standard.

Accountability and Duties
You will report to the Foreperson and:

  • Assist in the installation of commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems;
  • Stay up-to-date with all current health and safety practices and procedures;
  • Abide by and promote a safe system of work for all;
  • Produce and implement task-specific Method Statements, Tool Box Talks, and Risk Assessments;
  • Analyze and interpret construction and schematic drawings, technical literature, and equipment specifications;
  • Update and remit relevant administrative aspects for all projects, in a timely manner;
  • Constructively analyse, assess and troubleshoot to resolve issues and develop solutions;
  • Apply your technical, personal and teamwork skills to get the job done, on time, within budget, safely and to a high standard;
  • Mentor and/or share skills, where appropriate, with your team members to work more effectively;
  • Participate in ongoing technical and professional training, supported by the company, to continually develop your skills and enhance your development.

Qualifications

  • Basic hand tools and methods experience
  • Pre-apprentice certification in refrigeration and air-conditioning systems (a must)
  • 1st/2nd year Apprentice inter-provincial Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic trade qualification (good to have)
  • Awareness of packaged rooftop AC units, packaged DX AC split and multi-split systems
  • Knowledge of the design and application of Mitsubishi, Daikin, LG and Samsung/Trane variable refrigerant flow/volume (VRF/VRV), multi-split systems
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Forklift ticket
  • Level 1 First Aid
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
  • Possess basic personal hand tools for the trade; Enersolv will provide company-related tools

Requirements

  • Immediate start
  • Ability to work out-of-town, as required
  • Experience in mechanical systems, construction
  • Specialization in conventional and renewable energy HVAC systems
  • Required language: English (fluent)
